Gain understanding of the rudiments of biblical Hebrew grammar and vocabulary. Learn most frequent biblical vocabulary, patterns of Hebrew word and sentence formation, verb patterns and tenses. On completing the course the student should be able to read and understand simple biblical Hebrew prose with the help of a lexicon.

Format:

The course has been taught at VST as:

*A Fall term course (5 hours weekly, total of approximately 60 hours)

* A Summer intensive (5 hours daily, 4 weeks, total of 100 hours).

Prerequisites:

Familiarity with the Hebrew letters, vowels and the ability to read a simple text.

You can achieve that either by taking the Alef - Bet and more course

or on your own with the help of 

- Teach Yourself to Read Hebrew - Simon, EKS Publishing

or equivalent.

Required Material:
